We believe mission is not only something that happens in another country. Mission is a part of how we express love and justice to our neighbors everywhere. It's how we demonstrate solidarity with others and how we offer ourselves to God.

La Flor, Nicaragua Mission
Philo Presbyterian Church has partnered with JustHope in mission work to La Flor, Nicaragua to provide housing, Green Stoves, community health initiatives, and increase education opportunities for kids in the community. The members of the Nicaragua Mission Team travel annually to La Flor and spend a week supporting the ongoing work and deepening relationships with community members.
It is a difficult time in Nicaragua. The 2019 trip had to be canceled due to the civil unrest in the country and the subsequent government crackdown on protesters. Trips are resuming now and we hope to send a team in the Spring of 2020.

South Sudan Mission
Philo Presbyterian Church has partnered with South Sudan Education Mission (SSEM) and Missionary Paul Both to help provide educational opportunities to the people of South Sudan. South Sudan is the newest nation on earth and they have been ravaged by tribal fighting for the last 50 years. The country lacks all basic infrastructure and an educational system.
In 2017, the congregation, along with Tolono Presbyterian Church, committed to helping build a grade school for displaced children on the South Sudan/Ethiopia border. This school is being completed now and currently employs 15 people and educates nearly 300 kids.
SSEM also collects over the counter medication, unused choir robes, and children's books.
